Saturdays around here are all about pushing boundaries and exploring parts of human sexuality we may not have even known existed before. We all know that different cultures have different practices and rituals, but have you ever considered that that extends to what goes on behind closed doors as well? We did! This week’s Strange Sex Saturday is all about some of the strangest sex rituals from around the world.
Monogamy in marriage isn’t upheld in many places around the world. The people of Indonesia for example celebrate a festival called Pone and after the celebration, the men and women are allowed to have sex with anyone other than their real-life partners. And it is also believed that if they have sex with the same person in all seven celebrations of the year, it will bring good luck to them.
Most of us tend to think of sex as something we do nude, some people do like to have socks on, but other than that it’s pretty much a clothing-optional situation. The Men in Inis Beag Island however have a different view on getting down and dirty. They keep their private parts hidden at all times. By all we mean ALL, they even keep their underwear on while having intercourse.
The Muria tribe of Chhattisgarh has a more liberal view of sex. They build sex dormitories for the adolescents of the tribe where they are allowed to practice sexual acts with one or more people until they find their right partner. But no one is allowed to attach to each other on emotional grounds, so if you’re sexual attraction stems from mental stimulation you are lucky you were not born into this tribe.
Forget a love shack, the Kreung people of Cambodia have love huts! They build ‘love huts’ for their daughters. In these ‘love huts’ the girls are allowed to spend the night with different males until they find their suitable partner. That’s right guys, the girls get to pick and choose based entirely off who they think is the best lay.
