Welcome to our Seriously Strange Sex Series. You ever feel like there are things about you or your sexy parts that are just too strange? We all have a something we deem strange about ourselves or our sexual preferences. In this series we’re going to take a look at some of the crazier sides of sex and sexuality. So buckle up folks, things are about to get freeee-kaaaay! December is a month of traditions, so this week we are looking at some strange sexual traditions from around the world.
Skip the Eggnog
Most people consider Eggnog a holiday tradition. However the Sambians tribe in Papua, New Guinea prefers a different thick white drink traditionally. The younger males of this tribe spend a ten year period ingesting the semen of their elders, until they are married. Worse than Grandma’s Ugly Sweater
Ugly sweaters have become an unofficial tradition, some people even have ugly sweater contests. However at the Waterfalls of Saut d’Eau in Haiti, even the worst ugly sweater will pale in comparison. Picture beautiful waterfalls, now add people dancing and twirling around in them worshiping the goddess of love. You’re wondering why this qualifies as strange aren’t you? Here’s the twist. Those people gyrating in the waterfall are completely naked, except for the blood of the animals they’ve sacrificed, oh and throw in a few cow and goat heads here and there. This risqué ritual for the voodoo goddess of love is perfect if you are into exhibitionism and a little blood play.
Skip the Season of Giving, this is the Festival of Stealing

Sneaking away to steal a moment under the mistletoe doesn’t bind you together in marriage. However being stolen away undetected at the annual Gerewol Festival, results in an official love marriage. Sounds sweet right? Love marriages are a bit unique. The Wodaabe tribe of Niger, West Africa marriage is arranged by parents often during infancy, between cousins. However if you are unhappy with your arrangement there is hope. During the Gerewol Festival Wodaabe men dress up in elaborate costumes and make up then preform a dance to impress the women. They then attempt to steal a new wife, if the couple does successfully steal away without being noticed by the woman’s current husband they become a socially recognized married couple.
